Every 12th of June is a significant day for every Filipino as this serves as remembrance of our independence from the aftermath of the world war.
In modern times, many dedicated people are there to conduct fun activities so Gen Zs would remember and appreciate the special day, and spend this month of June holidays as a great opportunity for everyone to observe independence.
With a theme of “Preserving Our Filipino Culture and Heritage to Unite Generations” this 126th of the Philippine freedom, here are some activities you can sit on.
LIKHA 23
With this year’s theme “Likha Ko, Lahi Ko,” a five-day event of Likha 3 to celebrate Filipino craftsmanship that showcases undeniably talent of 87 Filipino artisans and Gawad sa Manlilikha ng Bayan (GAMABA) awardees. This is an initiative dedicated to the third edition of Likha to promote the Philippine traditional textiles, and crafts of esteemed artisans from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
The event will run from June 7 to June 11 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) Forum in Pasay City.
Concert at the Park
Thinking of going to Luneta Park to watch traditional dances, and symphonic melodies? If so, ‘Concert at the Park’ is here to brighten up your independence.
The Letran Singing Ambassadors are set to premier the show on June 8, followed by New Community Band 86 Inaugural Concert on June 16.
The show has something in-store for you for the rest of this month.
On June 23, A Las Piñas Band Anniversary Concert will showcase ‘Harana: Himig ng Kagitingan,’ while, A Ballet Concert of the E.E. Vicente Program Dance School and Zachary Dance Tutorial on June 30. All of these shows’ admissions are free, and would just have to go to Open Air Auditorium and enjoy!
Heritage Walk
A package of itinerary in destinations of Special Chinoy Heritage Walk on June 9, Lakad Pamana: Ang Mundo nina Ibarra at Maria Clara on June 15, LRT 1 Heritage Transit Tour on June 16, Rizal’s Manila: Rizal Themed Heritage Walk on June 16, and other more heritage walks to joined in an estimated budget of around 500 Php to 600 Php.
Malaya Music Fest
Looking for a fun event that will rock your world? Here comes the Malaya Music Fest on June 15 and 16 at Cove Manila that will feature prominent OPM bands and artists. Among the performers of the event for day one are SpongeCola, Gloc9, Hale, This Band, and more.
On day two, ParokyaNiEdgar, Mayonnaise, SUD, Maki, and more.

Manila Clock Tower Museum exhibits
Looking forward to seeing the wonders of Manila by visiting the Manila Clock Tower Museum? That’ll be fun and fantastic as we all know how Manila became one of the important pieces of our independence. The exhibit is open from Tuesdays to Sundays from 10:00AM to 3:00PM.
There’s so many ways for us to celebrate independence amidst the modernization that affects someone’s perspective on history. Fortunately, there’s also many people using their platform to let us remember the past and to honor our freedom, and with that, may we never forget to live with liberty.
