AT age 28, Abby Choi Tin-fung was starting to make it big in the lifestyle and fashion industry in Hong Kong. Until tragedy ended it, so shocking no one deserves such dehumanizing death.
Hong Kong police found her body dismembered in a rented house in a seaside village near the mountains in Hong Kong.
Her legs were placed inside the refrigerator. Some human tissues were also discovered in pots of soup.
Media reports said the police found her head, torso and hands still missing.
Her ex-husband was arrested, along with her former brother-in-law and parents-in-law.
Fashion icon, social media influencer
Before her death, the Chinese model had close to 100,000 followers on Instagram, with fans not only in Hong Kong but in many parts of the world.
She was a regular attendee of Paris Fashion Week events and featured in magazines like Elle, Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar.
Last month, she was photographed at the Elie Saab Spring Summer 2023 Haute Couture show in Paris, France.
Then last week, she was on the digital cover of the fashion and lifestyle magazine L’Officiel Monaco, wearing a glamorous nude gown.
The magazine described Choi as a fashion icon and media personality who managed to carve a name for herself, making her one of the most sought-after influencers in the industry.
“Her keen eye for style and her ability to mix and match pieces in unexpected ways has made her a true trendsetter, with fans from all over the world following her every move.” the L’Officiel wrote.
The Paris-based international publication was impressed by her “grace and sophistication” that made her a “household name.”
“I am a person who keeps absorbing inspiration and always tries new styles. Sometimes I also try to dress up more extravagantly, by mixing and combining different looks,” Choi said during the interview.

Heiress and 2 marriages
According to the Singapore Strait Times, Choi hailed from a wealthy family with business dealings in China.
Her net worth was HK$100 million (Php 703 million).
Her social media posts and media interviews, though are silent on her family.
At age 18, the Chinese model married Alex Kwong and had two kids.
Then, she divorced Kwong.
In 2016, she married Tam Chuk Kwan, who came from a wealthy family.
Kwan is the son of the founder of F&B group TamJai Yunnan Mixian, the iconic Yunnan rice noodle restaurant chain in Hong Kong. He goes by the name Chris, aka “Prince Lord.”
They had two children.
Dealings with exes
According to the Hong Kong media, Choi continued to pay for Kwong’s parents to live in a luxury apartment.
The 28-year-old is also reported to have helped her brother-in-law Anthony buy his home. But lately, Ms Choi spoke with her lawyers about selling Anthony’s UK$71 million (Php501 million) apartment, which she paid for but was under his name.
Hong Kong believes this is the apparent motive of the gruesome killing.
Elaborate plan
The seaside community of Lung Mei Tsuen, surrounded by the Pat Sin Leng mountains in Hong Kong, is a choice for weekend getaways by locals.
But what was supposed to be a peaceful and relaxing area has now become home to one of the most shocking crimes in Hong Kong since 2013.
Like in Hollywood movies, details emerged over the gruesome committed against Choi. The flat was rented by Choi’s father-in-law which became the perfect set up to cut off her body parts.
The flat has no furniture and authorities only found a couch and table. The two bedrooms were also empty.
“The body parts that we found were inside the refrigerator. There are two legs belonging to a female. We are still looking for the head, the torso and hands, which we believed were disposed of,” Hong Kong Superintendent Alan Chung Nga-lun of the Kowloon West regional crime unit said in a press briefing.
Authorities also found a meat grinder, an electric saw and two pots of soup containing human tissue.
The police also found two types of a chopper, a hammer, face shields, black raincoats and a purple handbag of Choi.
“The suspects covered the walls of the flat with a sail, and they put on face shields and raincoats so that they would not get bloodstained by dismembering the body,” Chung added.
More than 100 policemen are now searching for her missing body parts including a diving team.
