THE holidays are the time when most people spend time with their family.
While malls and Christmas-themed parks are the go-to places for most families, others travel overseas during the holidays.
But if you are someone who just wants to go somewhere far away but needs to stay a little close to home, here is a list of places in the North where you and your family can visit for the upcoming holidays.
The Summer Capital of the Philippines (Baguio City)
Baguio City is known as one of the top choices for where families spend their holidays. Aside from having to enjoy the cool temperature, people can also enjoy the sight of pine trees and breathe fresh air.
You may also explore Session Road.

While Session Road looks like an ordinary road for many, there are days where you can witness some unique events that you wouldn’t experience in Manila.
For example, a band or a group showcases their talent to the public by performing on the road.

Meanwhile, if you’re someone who’s not fond of crowds or concerts, a good boating experience at Burnham Park might just be for you.

The Surfing Capital of the North (San Juan, La Union)
Sometimes a good time on the beach is something that a person might need to relax.
In La Union, you will not only feel the summer vibes but also see the big waves along its coasts.
After all, they do have a reason why they call it the Surfing Capital of the North.

Calle Crisologo (Ilocos Sur)
If you and your family aren’t keen on going to a beach this holiday season, then you might want to consider Vigan City instead.
While the area of Calle Crisologo is just 500 meters long, it is considered one of the most beautiful streets in the country as it boasts centuries-old stone houses, lovely tungsten lamps, and antique cobblestone.

Minalungao National Park (Nueva Ecija)
Aside from it not being too far from Manila unlike La Union, what made Minalungao National Park special was the scenery.
Minalungao National Park is considered one of the few remaining natural environments in the northern region. It is centered along the scenic Peñaranda River and is bordered on both sides by the limestone foothills of the Sierra Madre mountain range.

Tagaytay
While we might have tackled the Summer Capital of the Philippines, did you know that there’s a second Summer Capital in the country?
Just like the climate in Baguio City, Tagaytay is known for its cool weather. While Baguio City is one of the go-to locations for a holiday staycation in the North, Tagaytay comes in second as the most popular holiday destination south of Manila.

While visitors can view the breathtaking sight of the Taal volcano, the fun doesn’t end there, as an amusement park such as SkyRanch Tagaytay is a must-visit place.
