by Malou Talosig-Bartolome

EASTERLIES are still bringing the clouds all over the country, and sometimes rains in the eastern provinces, state forecaster Pagasa said.

Around 8 am, Pagasa said intense rains were already felt in Surigao del Sur and Agusan del Sur and heavy rains occurred in Davao Oriental and Agusan del Norte.

Chances of rains are also higher in the Quezon province, as well as the regions of Bicol, Eastern Visayas, and other parts of Caraga and Davao.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have generally fair weather, a bit humid, with scattered rains and thunderstorms.

Pagasa weather specialist Obet Badrina said they are not monitoring any low pressure area at the moment.

“This week, maliit ang tsansa na magkaroon tayo ng bagyo bagamat posible pa rin na magkaroon tayo ng isa o dalawang bagyo ngayong Disyembre,” Badrina said.

Heavy rainfall warning

Around 8am, Pagasa raised an orange warning alert in Surigao del Sur and Agusan del Sur.

Orange means intense rainfall around 15 to 30 mm per hour or rain dump of 75,000-150,000 drums per square kilometer.

“Flooding is THREATENING especially in low lying areas and along river channels and landslides in mountainous areas,” Pagasa said.

Yellow warning alert, meanwhile, was raised in Davao Oriental and Agusan del Norte.

Yellow means heavy rainfall with rainfall values at 7.5 to 15 mm per hour or rain dump estimated around 37,500-75,000 drums per square kilometer. Communities are advissed to prepare as flooding is “possible” in low lying areas..

Light to moderate, sometimes heavy rains were also monitored in some towns in Bukidnon, Davao de Oro, Davao del Norte and MisamisOriental.
