Cloudy, rainy day In Cagayan Valley, Aurora, northern Quezon

GET ready for a rainy day if you’re in Cagayan Valley, Aurora, and northern Quezon today. 

The northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies with rains in these areas, according to the state weather bureau.

There is also the possibility of flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rain, it said.  

The northeast monsoon will bring daytime temperatures down slightly in Northern Luzon, said forecaster Daniel James Villamil. 

Baguio chilled at 16.7 degrees celsius at 4:50 a.m. today.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have generally fair weather conditions, with possible rains due to localized thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.

Visayas will have a warm and humid day with possible rains due to localized thunderstorms. 

Mindanao will be mostly cloudy throughout the day due to the intertropical convergence zone, which is a belt of converging trade winds, and will have higher chances of rain in the afternoon and evening.

There is no low pressure area on the horizon that could affect the country. 

Weekend weather 

Over the weekend, Metro Manila will continue to be warm and humid with possible thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening, according to Villamil.  

But by Monday, the metropolis could expect the temperature to go down due to the northeast monsoon. There will also be less chance of rain at the start of next week.

The mercury will continue to drop in Baguio City from Saturday to Monday due to the northeast monsoon, and it is expected to have light rains. The temperature will range from 23 to 15 degrees Celsius during these three days.

The Bicol region will have generally fair weather conditions over the weekend. But localized thunderstorms may bring rain.

But by Monday, it is expected to be cloudy with possible rain showers and thunderstorms.

Metro Cebu and a large portion of the Visayas region will also have generally fair weather conditions for the next three days, with isolated rain showers and localized thunderstorms. 

Metro Davao will be mostly cloudy throughout the weekend with a higher chance of rain in the afternoon and evening due to the ITCZ. 

By Monday, the skies in Metro Davao are expected to clear up. 

Gale Warning 

Because of the northeast monsoon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration has issued a gale warning for several areas.

The sea condition will be rough to very rough and waves will be as high as 4.5 meters in the following areas:

  • Batanes
  • Northern Coast of Ilocos Norte
  • Cagayan including Babuyan Islands
  • Isabela
  • Aurora
  • Eastern coast of Quezon including Polilio Islands
  • Camarines Norte
  • Northern coast of Camarines Sur
  • Eastern and northern coast of Catanduanes
  • Eastern coast of Albay
  • Eastern coast of Sorsogon
  • Northern Samar
  • Eastern Samar

Fishing boats and other small sea craft are advised not to venture out into the sea, while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves.

Coastal waters

Luzon and Eastern Visayas will have moderate to rough coastal waters and moderate to strong wind.

The rest of the country will have slight to moderate coastal waters with light to moderate wind. 

Temperature check

The temperature in Metro Manila will range from 31 to 25 degrees Celsius, while for Tuguegarao it will be from 28 to 24 degrees Celsius and for Laoag 33 to 24 degrees Celsius. 

Baguio temperature will range from 23 to 16 degrees Celsius, while Tagaytay will not be as chilly as its temperature will be from 29 to 22 degrees Celsius. In Legazpi, the temperature will range from 31 to 25 degrees Celsius. 

The temperature in Puerto Princesa and Kalayaan Islands will be from 32 to 26 degrees Celsius.

The temperature in Cebu and Tacloban will range from 31 to 26 degrees Celsius, and for Iloilo 30 to 27 degrees Celsius.

For Zamboanga, it will be from 32 to 23 degrees Celsius, for Cagayan de Oro 30 to 24 degrees Celsius, and for Davao City,  31 to 24 degrees Celsius.

Visayas forecast

Kasarangan ngadto sa kusog na hangin nga gikan sa Amihanang-silangan ngadto sa Silangan ang mupasulabi sa Eastern Visayas, Palawan lakip na ang Kalayaan Islands, ug sa Occidental Mindoro diin ang kadagatan adunay kasarangan ngadto sa baluron ang kahimtang. Hinay ngadto sa kasarangan nga paghuros sa hangin gikan sa Silangan ngadto sa Amihanang-silangan ang mupasulabi sa nahibiling bahin sa Visayas diin ang kadagatan adunay hinay ngadto sa kasarangan ang pagbalud.

Mindanao forecast 

Ang tibuok dapit sa Mindanao makasinati sa panalagsang pagdag um ngadto na sa mapanganuron nga kalangitan inubanan sa patak-patak nga pag ulan ug panadugdog tungod sa ITCZ/Localized Thunderstorms. Hinay ngadto na sa kasarangan nga hangin nga magagikan sa  silangan ngadto na sa amihanang silangang direksyon ug hapsay ngadto na sa kasarangan ang pagbalud sa kadagatan.
