NBC News showed a closed circuit television showing a man wrestling down the gunman who killed 11 people celebrating Chinese Lunar New Year in Monterey Park City in Los Angeles county.

The CCTV footage from the Lai Lai Ballroom & Studio in Alhambra, California was taken down from Tiktok and re-uploaded on a Facebook group by a Filipino community in southern California.

It captured a young man who dared to tackle and take the gun away from Huu Can Tran.

As seen in the 44-second video, the man, who was later identified as 26-year-old Brandon Tsay, was manning his family-run dance hall when the elderly man who slaughtered 11 people at Monterey Park barged into the hall possessing a semiautomatic pistol.

Tsay lunged at the gunman and eventually disarmed him, preventing another tragedy.

At the end of the video, Tsay was seen pointing at the door, telling the man to get out.

Upon his encounter with the murderous madman, Tsay said he froze up and believed he was about to face death at that moment.

“There was a moment I actually froze up because I was … I had the belief I was going to die,” said Tsay. “Like, my life was ending here, at that very moment.”

Despite the fear he was feeling, Tsay said it dawned on him that he had to disarm the man to protect the people inside the dance hall.

According to a police report, the gunman went to Lai Lai Ballroom & Studio at least 20 minutes after the bloodbath in Monterey Park took place but was disarmed and later fled the scene.

Tran initially killed 10 people at the first dance hall and injured 10 others. Hours after the incident, authorities have reported that one of the wounded, who was previously in a critical condition, has passed away, raising the death toll to 11.

California governor Gavin Newsom thanks Tsay in a tweet, praising the civilian for showing his courage in stopping the gunman from killing countless others.

“Brandon did what no one should ever have to do — stopped a gunman at his place of work from killing countless others,” Newsom wrote. “Forever grateful for your courage, Brandon.”
