BarDa is back! Barbie Forteza, David Licauco thrill fans with ‘Maging Sino Ka Man’ TV remake

by Joanna Deala

FANS of actress Barbie Forteza and actor David Licauco, also known as BarDa, are getting more and more excited for the return of the two stars to the small screen, after the teaser of their forthcoming series Maging Sino Ka Man was released.

The television show is the remake of the 1991 romantic-comedy of the same name that starred Sharon Cuneta and Robin Padilla.

The film follows a singer named Monique (played by Cuneta) who escapes from her home and hides herself in the identity of Digna. While in hiding, she encounters Carding (played by Padilla), a thief who is taking care of several kids.

GMA Network has just dropped the first teaser of the TV series, and it shows Forteza and Licauco as their new characters.

The teaser started with photos of Forteza and Licauco as Klay and Fidel, their characters in the hit fantasy series Maria Clara at Ibarra, before it transitioned to images of them as Monique and Carding in the Maging Sino Ka Man remake.

“Ang pag-ibig tumatawid sa anumang panahon at anumang pagkatao,” the teaser stated.

The Kapuso network said that this much-anticipated primetime comeback is the “biggest TV adaptation of the year.”

BarDa’s fans, meanwhile, could not wait for the forthcoming series and even coined their idols’ new love team name, “MonDing.”

Forteza and Licauco first teased their fans about the TV adaptation in July, posting photos of them together during the look test for the show on their social media accounts.

The excitement level rose when the network released a sneak peak of BarDa’s characters in the remake, where it displayed the explosive chemistry between Forteza and Licauco.

The video showed a dancing Monique bumping into Carding at a bar’s dance floor. Carding then promptly caught Monique in his arms.

Also part of the Maging Sino Ka Man cast are Faith Da Silva, Jean Garcia, E.R. Ejercito, Rain Matienzo, Mikoy Morales, Jeric Raval, and Juancho Trivino.

The series will be helmed by Enzo Williams.

Get ready for action scenes

Licauco has been gearing up for his role as Carding as fans await the release of the series in September.

In an Instagram video shared by GMA, Licauco was seen practicing for his stunts and fight scenes.

“Pambansang Ginoo is entering his bad boy era!” the network said in the caption.

He also posted photos of him standing on top of what seems to be a moving truck on Instagram.

The 29-year-old actor also said in a GMA News report that he has been practicing saying his dialogue in a more street smart-way with the help of his friends.

“Kinakausap ko ‘yung mga kaibigan ko na medyo kanto,” he shared.

Other BarDa projects

Forteza and Licauco have another project together, apart from the Maging Sino Ka Man remake.

The two will also be starring in the forthcoming rom-com film That Kind of Love directed by Cathy Camarillo. They flew to South Korea in April to film several scenes for the movie.

That Kind of Love is their first movie project together after their successful pair-up in Maria Clara at Ibarra, where they became known as “FiLay.”

While the fantasy series made their team-up popular, it was not the first project that Forteza and Licauco worked on together.

The celebrities starred in the 2022 TV series Mano Po Legacy: The Family Fortune. The 26-year-old actress also appeared as a guest in Licauco’s 2021 rom-com series Heartful Café.
