Baldivino’s death shocks showbiz friends

by Athena Yap

NEWS of the death of Pilipinas Got Talent champion Jovit Baldivino at the age of 29 on Friday morning shocked friends in the showbiz industry.

Baldivino’s friends, singers Marcelito Pomoy and Richard Poon and comedian Kiray Celis, poured out their sorrow by sharing memories they had with the singer on social media.

Pomoy, a fellow Pilipinas Got Talent champion, took to Instagram to express his heartache and shared a screenshot of his last exchange of messages with Baldivino’s family prior to his death.

He said he tried his best to reach out to Baldivino while he was fighting  it out.

“Parekoy, 3:33AM this morning pinipilit ka pa naming kausapin at gisingin baka mag milagro pa,” he said.

Pomoy also expressed his gratitude to Baldivino for being one of the people behind his success.

“Sobrang sakit mawalan ng isang kaibigan, ikaw’ yung  taong unang sumuporta sa laban ko sa PGT, pahinga ka na,” he said.

Celis shared a series of clips showing the moments she shared with Baldivino on her Facebook.

In her caption, the actress expressed her disbelief over his death and said he had been like a brother to her.

“Jovit…. totoo ba to? Ang saya saya pa natin dito.. hindi ka lang naging mabuting kaibigan samin. Para ka na naming kapatid eh mamimiss ka namin. At mahal na mahal ka namin!” she said.

On Facebook, Poon reposted a news article about his fellow singer’s death and shared his shock over his passing.

Reports said Baldivino died Friday morning. He was rushed to a hospital on Saturday the week before performing at a party in Batangas.

The reports quoted a statement from Baldivino’s family as saying that he had a blood clot in the brain, which is a sign of aneurysm.

The statement said Baldivino attended the party while recuperating from hypertension. His doctors had advised him not to sing while he was still on the way to recovery, but he gave in to the clamor of the crowd. He sang three songs, including his signature song, Journey’s “Faithfully,” and was gasping for breath by the third song.
